Connecticut

Connecticut Increases Minimum Wage: Compliance Reminder;
On January 1, 2024, Connecticut’s minimum wage will increase to $15.69 per hour. The minimum base wage for tipped hotel and restaurant service employees remains $6.38 per hour (for most) and $8.23 per hour for tipped bartenders.

New York

New York Increases Minimum Wage and Salaries: Compliance Reminder;
Minimum Wages and Salaries – The following changes to minimum wage and salary thresholds apply as of January 1, 2024 (this is a change from previous years’ increases that took effect each December 31). Some of these rates are still proposed but are very unlikely to change.

NYC and Suffolk, Nassau, and Westchester Counties – The minimum wage will increase to $16 per hour. The minimum base wage for tipped hospitality workers will be $13.35 per hour for service employees and $10.65 per hour for food service workers. The minimum salary threshold for exempt executive and administrative employees will increase to $1,200 per week ($62,400 annually). The minimum wage for home care aides will increase to $18.55 per hour.

The Rest of New York State – The minimum wage in the remainder of New York State (all areas outside of New York City, and Suffolk, Nassau, and Westchester counties) will increase to $15 per hour. The minimum base wage for tipped hospitality workers will be $12.50 per hour for service employees and $10 per hour for food service workers. The minimum salary threshold for exempt executive and administrative employees will increase to $1,124.20 per week ($58,458.40 annually). The minimum wage for home care aides will increase to $17.55 per hour.

New Jersey

New Jersey Increases Minimum Wage: Compliance Reminder;
On January 1, 2024, the minimum wage for most employers in New Jersey will increase to $15.13 per hour. For seasonal and small employers (those with five or fewer employees), the minimum wage will increase to $13.73 per hour. Agricultural employers must pay at least $12.81 per hour. Employees who provide direct care at a long-term care facility will be entitled to $18.13 per hour. The minimum base wage for tipped employees will remain the same at $5.26 per hour. Note that if you’re a small, seasonal, or agricultural employer, you can only take a tip credit if the base wage and tips bring the employee to $15.13 per hour.
