The Culpeo Story

Culpeo HR was built on (and named after) our fundamental belief that successful organizations start with culture and people. We would later learn that we shared names with the culpeo fox– also known as “The Golden Fox”– which is known for its observation, determination, and agility.

At Culpeo HR, we tackle each problem and strategy with the same observation, determination, and agility. This is what sets us apart and ensures security and long-term success for all of our clients.

Laura McPadden

Laura is a results-oriented HR professional with a proven record of delivering HR strategies to support an organization’s growth, culture and transformation. As an HR business partner with over 25 years of experience, she is skilled in providing strategic guidance to management in the areas of employee relations, performance management, talent acquisition, culture development and employee engagement.

Laura has worked in the industries of media, marketing, retail, consumer product goods and biotechnology life sciences. Her prior employers include News America Marketing, a former News Corporation Company, Aspira Women’s Health and The Caldor Corporation.

At Culpeo HR, she will work with clients to build and maintain high performing workforces by implementing employee focused HR solutions.

Laura holds a B.A. in English with a minor in Communications and a Human Resources Certification from Fairfield University. Laura served as a board member for a local Fairfield non-profit, Operation Hope from 2017 to 2021.

She resides in Connecticut with her husband and labradoodle. In her free time, Laura enjoys baking, entertaining, reading and gardening.

Kit Ijams

Kit has extensive experience in driving HR excellence and helping organizations achieve their strategic goals for both small and large international companies. She has successfully established strong business relationships with leaders in talent development, succession planning, employee engagement, global mobility, and talent acquisition.

Kit’s prior employers include Christie’s, John S. Herold, Inc., IHS Markit and Cartus Corporation. Kit holds a BA in Art History from Connecticut College as well as a Certified Health Coach certificate from Dr. Sears.

Kit lives in CT with her husband and enjoys spending time with her children, running, and playing as much pickleball as possible!

Steffany Lemus

Steffany is a Human Resources Professional whose mission is to enable a positive, inclusive company culture. This involves partnering with managers throughout the organization to align HR policies with business goals and forge a collaborative culture through coaching, organizational strategy, and employee engagement. When issues inevitably arise, she works with managers and their direct reports to investigate claims and achieve mutually satisfactory resolutions.

Steffany is well versed in working with diverse cultures and teams within all organization levels. Steffany serves as an HR business partner for clients by identifying human resources issues and contributing analysis, strategies, and recommendations to assist companies in reaching their organizational goals and objectives. Steffany is fluent in Spanish and experienced in obtaining work visas for global employees such as H1B, TN & O1 visas as well as Green Cards.

Steffany holds a B.S. in Business Management and is actively pursuing a Human Resources Management certificate through e-Cornell. She resides in CT with her husband and son. In her spare time Steffany is a big foodie – enjoying new restaurants and loves to spend time outdoors. .

Gloria Vazquez

Gloria’s passion is people. A creative thinker, problem solver and decision maker who balances the needs of the client and employees while aligning the mission and core values of the organization. Gloria serves as a true client partner and performance driven professional with 20 years of progressive experience in the Human Resources field.

She has extensive experience in all disciplines of Human Resources and client experience including consulting, performance management, talent management, talent acquisition, human resources governance, risk mitigation and policy, benefits and payroll, as well as succession planning.

Anaka Mastrianni

Anaka grew up in Connecticut and traveled to the nearby state of Rhode Island for college at Bryant University. Initially planning to focus her degree in Management, her plans shifted after her first-year Psychology of Marketing class, discovering a love for Customer and Consumer experience and Psychology. Anaka graduated from Bryant University with her BS in Business Administration and a double major in Marketing and Psychology.

After college, she traveled to New York City where she worked for a luxury menswear company specializing in Customer Service and E-commerce. Since joining the Culpeo HR team where she is using her creative eye, love of psychology, and exemplary customer service skills to represent Culpeo HR as their Director of Brand Communications.

Anaka’s big passions in life are the four F's... Family, Food, Fashion, and Fitness. On the weekends she spends her days shopping and exercising with her sister, and her nights trying new restaurants or having big family dinners with all her extended relatives.

Leah Torla

Leah grew up in the Southeast of England and graduated from Art & Design college in Kent. Although Leah will always have a passion for art and design, she decided to take a sidestep into Administration. Leah worked her way up from Receptionist to Office Administrator before taking a career break to travel the world, where she had the opportunity to experience various cultures and see some amazing places. Returning to the workforce, Leah wanted to ensure that she followed her passion for people and moved to the City of London to secure an opportunity in the Recruitment industry where she was able to expand her skillset and work with people every day. When her Niece was born a few years later, she moved back to Kent to be close to family, where she continued her administrative career within the Healthcare industry.

Leah relocated to Connecticut in 2021, leaving everything and everyone she knew behind to follow her heart and settle into life with her new husband. Joining Culpeo HR has enabled Leah to combine her love and talent for Recruitment and Administrative support into the role of Office Manager. Leah now supports the HR & Recruitment team for managing recruitment activities, social and brand management, and administrative support.

Leah is a romantic, a lover of good food and enjoys spending her time surrounded by good people and experiencing new things. Now an Auntie of 4, she is even more excited for family reunions and plans to travel to the UK at least once a year.
